BLOG 10: project doubts

While analyzing film soundtracks i realised that all the tracks are in the same key or have the same tonal centers, my guess is that this is done to keep the project cohesive and have the same tones through the soundtrack, while listening to the music i have composed for this project I realised that one or two of the tracks don’t fit with the rest, this lead me to think of ways I could extend the project while still having the same tone and moods. The first way i could do this is use some of the material from the songs and recycle it into a new track. This method for sure will work, Though this method makes me sad that i will have to discard the other tracks ive made, but i would not have to if I change the key of the track so it blends in with the whole project and sounds more cohesive.

Another way to keep the project cohesive is using the same instruments throughout the project, for example if I used two different synths on two different tracks they have no relationship but if I use the same synth for both tracks even if they are in different keys the listener will think of the synth appearing in an earlier track.

I can also keep the project more cohesive by producing two or three sound bridges to replace that one track I mentioned earlier, I feel these sound bridge transitions are crucial in a film soundtrack but for my project there is no visual so i risk losing the listeners attention if have a sound bridge that’s not doing much, i can still compose a sound bridge but i have to make sure it is very intentional and short.

My goal with this project is to create a unified sonic experience which can only be accomplished by mantaining some consistency.
