Blog 13: keeping the project sound consistent.
As I have mentioned in earlier blogposts that I am struggling with keeping the whole project sounding consistent, I decided to fix this error forever. I realised that film soundtracks use the same instrument sound if the instrument appears again throughout the whole soundtrack. What i mean by this is for example, if there is a piano sound in the soundtrack the same piano sound will be used when the composer decides to compose a new section. This is why i have decided to use analog synthesizers throughout the project, i have done this for track 3 and 5 already but this was prior to this realisation. now my job was to match the synths used in these three tracks, thankfully i remembered which synths i used. The synths were the Roland Juno-X and the Korg Opsix SE.
To get the best results for this process i exported the midi tracks from the remaining projects and created new project files for every different track. I then sent midi out to the korg synthesizer after getting the sound i needed. After receiving the synth recording in my Daw i repeated this for the other 4 tracks. Everytime i used a different sound, I repeated the same process for the other tracks as well, this gave me more control and depth when it comes to keeping the projects sound consistent.
So this left with me with 7 tracks altogether, i made a tough decision and scrapped two of the tracks from my project as i felt they did not support the narrative well.
