Blog 17: track 4 analysis

[Script in bold]

ACT 3 – Scene 2

EXT. DESERT – DAY

Heatwaves distort the vast dunes. The group marches endlessly. A figure appears in the distance—a cloaked entity, unmoving.

They approach cautiously. The figure does not respond. A fighter lunges—only to be cast back by a sandstorm.

Attempts are made—each more desperate than the last.

Finally, as the sun sets, the figure raises its arms. Sand lifts into the sky, revealing a swirling portal beneath its feet.

The figure nods. Then vanishes.

The group steps into the portal.

In this blog I will be describing my compositional process.

I wanted this track to have a shift in tone to the rest of the project just to keep the project interesting. In the script heatwaves and dunes are mentioned which make me think of the colour red, i feel like the F# Phrygian scale gives me the same mysterious feeling.

” A figure appears in the distance—a cloaked entity, unmoving.”  to compose this line, I decided I wanted to use a lead with a filter opening which gives the sound that mystery and suspense.

“They approach cautiously. The figure does not respond. A fighter lunges—only to be cast back by a sandstorm. Attempts are made—each more desperate than the last” for this i decided to use a bass hit that symbolises the sandstorm

“Finally, as the sun sets, the figure raises its arms. Sand lifts into the sky, revealing a swirling portal beneath its feet.”  For this part I used the same vocals chops from the earlier part in the track but in a fast-arpeggiating pattern

which to me sounds like a computer loading up which gives me the feeling of transportation almost like the computer is opening a portal
